Danila Bochkarev is the Project Co-ordinator for EWI’s Energy Security
project (e-mail: danila_bochkarev@yahoo.co.uk ). Prior to joining EWI, Danila was an Interbrew Baillet-Latour scholar (EU-Russia relations) at the Universite Catholique de Louvain (UCL) and Leuven University/KUL (Belgium) and spent time with the European Parliament. He holds an MA degree in Politics, Security and Integration (University College London), a DEA (MA) degree in History from University of Paris 1 (Sorbonne) and a Candidate of Science degree in Political Science from Nizhniy Novgorod State University (Russia). Danila has several academic distinctions, including being a Royal Dutch Shell and French Government / BGF scholar. He is fluent in English and French and is a native Russian speaker. Andrei V. Belyi, expert of the Centre, Associate Professor and deputy chair of the cathedra on political issues of international energy at the Higher School of Economics, Research Fellow of the Centre for Energy Studies at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO), member of an expert group of the EU Russia Energy Dialogue, associated researcher of the Catholic University of Leuven in the framework of the EU Russia relations chair (Chaire Inbev Baillet Latour).
Senior Expert on international energy issues, on the EU energy legislation, on international pipeline regulation and international energy investments, including dispute settlement, on the questions related to the liberalization of electricity markets. From 2001 to 2005 was a consultant for MVV Consulting GmbH, in the framework of which was a project manager of the renewable energy study (2001-2002гг), participated in the overview of the EU legislation in electricity sector (2002-2005), contributed to a project on the investment climate in transmission of electricity in Central Asia. In 2005 was a member of the Energy Charter Secretariat in Brussels, participated in the analysis of the oil and gas transit issues. Since 2006 is in Moscow, participated in and conducted various consulting projects on energy and gas regulation.
Graduated of the Free University of Brussels with a Doctoral degree «Doctorat». Has a teaching experience in Russia and outside Russia. Author of publications for international reviewed journals, for academic books, for reports of international organizations and interviews for mass media. Active member of international forums on energy policy and international energy law.
